13 Nov How to Add External Links or URLs to your Instagram Stories
Here’s a quick tutorial on how to add links to your Instagram Stories if your business account has under 10,000 followers. You can read below or scroll to the bottom for the video tutorial.
First, you’ll need to create an IGTV post and place the external link in the caption of which you want people to click on and voila, it will open the website URL you’d like people to visit.
To create the story itself, click on the + sign at the top of the page, then click on story. In the video example provided we used a picture for the story. Once the picture loads you’ll notice a menu of items at the top you can select from like stickers, text, etc. For this purpose, you’ll want to click the third option which will look like a paperclip (link). That will open up a window with more options. You’ll notice an option that says + IGTV Video. Go ahead and click on that, and then click on the video you loaded previously with the link you placed in the caption. Then simply “send to” story and once it loads viewers will now have a “Swipe Up” option that will allow them to proceed to the provided IGTV video and link to the exterior URL.
This is a great option for anyone who wants to feature links to items. A good example of this would be a real estate digital open house video. You would load that to your IGTV with a link to your website that showcases the property with its full details and pictures. Then simply create a teaser “Story” to view the property video which will then give them access to the exterior link for any pertinent property information.
